About this product
The Pioneer DJ DDJ-REV5 is a 2-channel, double deck tabletop controller with a built-in mixer, pitch control, and effects including filter. It features 16 performance pads, 2 mic inputs, 2 phono inputs, and 2 line inputs. Output options include XLR, analog RCA/coaxial, and headphones. With 24-bit/44.1 kHz sampling and a frequency response of 20-20,000 Hz, this controller is designed for DJs seeking versatile connectivity and responsive control.
Our take
I've been using the DDJ-REV5 for a few weeks and it's a solid mid-range controller. The layout feels familiar to Pioneer gear, and having XLR outs is great for club setups. The 16 pads are responsive, and the built-in filter effects are useful. However, I miss having a dedicated loop/sampler section — the effect list mentions filter but not loop. Also, the 24-bit sampling at 44.1 kHz is fine but not top-tier. For $950, you get a capable 2-channel setup, but if you need more advanced features like standalone operation or more effects, you might want to look higher up the line.
