Our take
I bought the DDJ-SX2 used and it's been a workhorse. The build is solid—metal chassis, smooth faders, and responsive pads. The 16 performance pads give you plenty of control for hot cues, slicer, and sampler. Four channels let you mix with multiple sources or add effects. The sound quality is clean for a built-in interface. That said, being console only means no cables or software, so you need your own Serato license. Also, it's a bit bulky for travel. For $600, it's a professional-grade controller that still holds up against newer models. Just check the condition carefully before buying used.
